Basic & Comprehensive Benchmarking
The first step in understanding the best energy solution for your facility is through R World’s Benchmarking evaluation. Benchmarking is the starting point of every energy efficiency effort. We accumulate building, utility data and other relevant key performance indices. Basic and Comprehensive Benchmarking reports assist with planning and decision making for targeted capital investment. Entire portfolio of facilities with associated utility data and other important variables will be analyzed and presented within the final report. Final report should contain data and analysis necessary to make further decisions for energy audits and assessments, for capital investment planning, energy and carbon emission strategy development. If sufficient data is not available, the final report will provide guidance on further data gathering needs.
ASHRAE Level 1-3 Energy Audits
We have the tools and resources required to identify energy conservation measures (ECM) ranging from low cost/no cost measures to investment grade measures. Our analyses are not biased toward any product or technology. We explore all opportunities for retrofit, replacement and/or optimization including, but not limited to, envelope, lighting, mechanical systems, and controls. All of our projects begin with an assessment of historical utility data to benchmark performance. We can estimate energy savings and environmental impacts of measures and prioritize them by energy savings, demand savings, payback, ROI, cash flow, carbon reduction, etc. Our savings estimates are calculated net of all measures, as to not inflate savings estimates.
Measurement and Verification (M&V)
R World Energy with the assistance of our engineering partner provides complete measurement and verification services in support of performance contracts and other projects where proven energy savings are required. We have performed short and long-term monitoring at many facilities and are well versed in the leading M&V protocols including the International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP), the Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) application of the protocol, and the NAESB, ISO-NE, and PJM wholesale market M&V protocols. Our partner is a member of the EVO’s IPMVP committee.
We have extensive experience performing all IPMVP options, and have a significant stock of metering equipment required for Option B (monitoring of both equipment performance and operation). We are expert users of the Metrix™ software for performing whole building billing analyses, Option C, and expert users of DOE-2 / eQUEST for the calibrated simulations required under Option D.
Financial & Utility Rebate Analysis
Understanding the financial impact the energy savings will have is an important step early. This is done through an analysis of your current electric bills. By collecting data from the last 12 to 24 months’ worth of utility statements, we can evaluate your kWh usage, as well as your kW demand rates. Moreover, Federal, State, Local, and Utility incentives are available, in conjunction with our financing programs, to assist in making the project fit into your budget. Implementing energy efficiency design features in new construction usually produces the greatest return on investment – or in other words the biggest bang for the buck. Energy use can often be significantly reduced in the construction phase at little or no impact on the construction budget. Our team assists developers, designers, and architects by recommending site-specific design changes that have attractive rates of return and result in the lowest overall cost of ownership. We can also provide project cost estimates and life-cycle cost analyses so that options are compared on an equal footing.
Recommended measures often improve the comfort, performance, and value of the buildings. Savings estimates are typically based on simulation modeling using DOE-2.2 through the eQUEST interface. The proper baseline, be it an energy code or industry best practice, can be incorporated into the baseline models. Our team can also prepare LEED analysis and other documentation that can help promote your green building.
Various Energy Related Training
Our R World Energy Solutions subject matter experts provide various training sessions here at the R World King of Prussia offices or at your site. These sessions are typically taught by experts in their field. Examples include basic energy/ behavior, hydraulic training focused on new technologies like VFD’s, water and or steam efficiency and more.
Behavior Based Energy Efficiency Programs
Occupant and operational behavior based energy efficiency programs should be an integral part of every comprehensive energy efficiency and resource efficiency effort. Whether these programs represent stand-alone efforts or integrated components of broader energy efficiency and sustainability strategy, more and more organizations are trying to actively address behavior based opportunities and to fully utilize energy saving potential.
A critical characteristic of a successful behavior based strategy is its long-term sustainability. Simple awareness program, while beneficial, does not ensure long-term sustainability of energy savings. Persistent, organized, concerted, focused and informed effort is necessary to actively engage occupants to develop new habits and behaviors.
Behavior based programs we offer are scalable. However, they work the best for larger organizations with portfolios of facilities. Behavior based energy efficiency programs require long-term time commitment. Short-term behavior based efforts do not bring sustainable energy savings.
